The SEAF Board of Directors is proud to announce the SEAF Awards Program. In keeping with our mission, our awards program has been created to:

  • Recognize excellence in facilitation practices
  • Promote awareness of the role of facilitation in achieving results
  • Reward the use of facilitation within organizations and our communities
  • Acknowledge outstanding contributions by SEAF members
  • Promote SEAF as a vehicle for advancing facilitation skills
      
                                         2008 Award Winners
Atlanta, GA, December 12, 2008:   The Southeast Association of Facilitators (SEAF) announced winners of the 2008 awards: The Facilitation Impact Award, The President’s Award and The Facilitator of the Year Award. Each is given to the recipient(s) for excellence in achieving impact through facilitation.  Each recipient was assessed based on these areas: benefits, utilization, involvement, client relationship management, planning, innovation and key lessons learned.
 
The first recipient of the Facilitation Impact Award is: Facilitators from Alignment At Work,Ken Meyer and Jeff Lebow, for their work with the Atlanta Community Food Bank.   Meyer and Lebow used their facilitated process, Pull Thinking, to help the Atlanta Food Bank make measurable improvements in nine key management and business areas.   Meyer and Lebow gave over 80 hours of pro-bono services to the organization. Atlanta Community Food Bank, Chief Operating Officer, Rob Johnson, commented on the work, “They helped up create a visible way to see the normally invisible work process – which helps everyone in the company better understand their work and performance expectations.”  
 
The second recipient of the Facilitation Impact Award is CDC employee Lander Stoddard, CPF and Institute for Nuclear Power Operations employee, Brian Baskette, CPF. for their work with The Sullivan Center Board.   Stoddard and Baskette volunteered their time to help the Board, at a day-long retreat, review and revise their long term direction. The Sullivan Center Board member Phil Thoennespraised Stoddard and Baskette for doing an “Amazing!” job. He said, “Every single Board member expressed a desire to have an extra day with both of them…in a very short time Lander and Brian helped us discuss issues that we needed to discuss.”
 
The 2008 President’s Award. is given to the member who demonstrates contributions to the association that go “above and beyond the call of duty”. The 2008 President’s Award Recipient is   Debbie Tegart, CBA, CPF, with Systems Engineering Services, Inc.   Tegart, who served on the 2008 Board as VP of Programs was recognized for her hard work and dedication through over 80 hours of volunteer facilitation and technology work. Dr. Gloria Pursell, 2008 President of SEAF, selected Debbie Tegart for this award and stated, “Debbie’s work on the SEAF Board has been invaluable to the organization. Her outstanding leadership with the selection of exemplary programs and her facilitative approach of creating and sustaining a participatory environment for “getting things done” have helped SEAF achieve its strategic goals of improving Technology, Engagement, and Communication. With Debbie’s talents, insights, and technology savvy, SEAF has benefited greatly with a redesigned website and automation of SEAF’s administrative duties. Debbie Tegart earned and deserves the honor of the 2008 President’s Award.”
 
The recipient of the 2008 Facilitator of the Year Award is Susan Peryam, CPF,with Peryam and Associates.    Susan was recognized for her participation and innovation in the field of facilitation.    Susan has volunteered hundreds of hours as the 2007 Conference Chair for the International Association of Facilitators (IAF) annual conference held in Atlanta. Susan also serves as an IAF assessor and as a volunteer in several community service programs. Peryam has been published in numerous IAF journals and has developed a comprehensive, public, facilitation training program. Pursell commented on Peryam’s impact on the field of facilitation: “Susan is one of the most talented and professional facilitators in the field. Her style and methods of creating collaborative relationships and guiding groups to appropriate and useful outcomes is exemplary.     Her time and talents have helped SEAF members learn and develop their skills. The SEAF Board is very pleased to present this award to Susan Peryam.” 
 
Technical expert Rich Stern was recognized for providing excellent volunteer technical support from 2004 -2008.   With Rich's patient support SEAF has been able to successfully launch a website and promote programs via the internet.  Thank you Rich for your tireless support!
